Calling ahead is a good way to find out what games and stakes are offered.

Live Game Types

You will be able to find many different types of games in casino's and cardrooms all over the world.

A cardroom is in the business of making money. This means their focus will be double-edged. On one hand a wide variety of games will attract a bigger market population. On the other, supplying the resources for all those games (tables, dealers, floor space) takes a considerable amount of expense. For this reason, most USA cardrooms will offer a relatively standard set of games and branch out slightly based on local factors.

Though the game selection can be diverse, you will probably not find any of the uncommon games found in home/kitchen games. Most offerings will limit themselves to the Hold'Em and 7 Card Stud variants.

We will differentiate between three types of cardrooms.

Small (Less than 15 Tables)

Medium (15 to 30 Tables)

Large (Greater than 30 Tables)

Small Cardrooms

The most common games you will find in small cardrooms are Texas Hold'Em and 7 Card Stud. These are the most popular games, and will be expected to keep the place consistently full.

The limits you will find will vary. For more stakes related information, see the Live Game Stakes page.

Medium Cardrooms

Medium sized cardrooms will offer a greater variety of games. Texas Hold'Em will dominate, but there will be more Stud based games including Hi/Lo Split, as well as Omaha and Omaha Hi/Lo. Medium cardrooms may also offer some tournaments.

The limits you will find will vary. For more stakes related information, see the Live Game Stakes page.

Large Cardrooms

The large cardrooms, such as those found in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and Atlantic City, are able to reach out to a much larger customer base. As such, they are able to offer more games, more types of games, and more related events such as tournaments and seminars.

You will find a large representation of Hold'Em, 7 Card Stud (both High and High/Low), Omaha (both High and High/Low), as well as more unique games such as Lowball, Pineapple, Mexican Stud, and No Limit games.

The limits you will find will vary. For more stakes related information, see the Live Game Stakes page.
