Online Poker

Due to the ridiculous legislation passed in October, 2006, playing online poker with real money has become a bit of a challenge.

PokerColorado is actively researching this and other issues facing the poker community, and will post new information as it becomes available. Until then, we will limit our discussions of online poker to free play only.

Many sites offer "Play money" to registered users.  This can be done without revealing personal financial information. 

Use the Play Money to get a feel for the software, and make some acquaintances on the site.  Once you are comfortable, then you can add some real money and start WINNING!

Our biggest tip when playing for free money is this.  Do not play the free money tables too long, or you may end up with some bad habits! 

Some trends in the Play money areas to watch out for:

  Don't get accustomed to staying in just because it is not costing you anything!  Play smart and try to play ony winning hands.

  Other players will play very reckless in Free money games.  Do not think that everyone will play that way in the money games.  (If they do, they quickly go broke).

  At the smaller stakes games, you will still have LOTS of novice players like you!  The extremely good players usually inhabit the higher limits.  Work your way up slowly!
