World
Series of Poker
Each year, the World Series of Poker draws
thousands of players from all over the world, to Las Vegas
Nevada. They will compete in one or more events during
the 6 week long series, which happens each year sometime
between May and July.
There is one event per day. You will find
events such as 1500$ no-limit-Hold'em, 2500$ Pot Limit
Omaha,
and 1000$
Limit
Hold'Em.
The basic structure to the daily events is
to begin around Noon, and play all day until the final
table is set, or round 13 is reached. The next day, the
final players reconvene and finish the game, while the
new days event is getting
underway.
The final event of the series is called the
Championship Event. This event is so well known, that most
people just assume that IT IS the World Series of Poker.
The championship game is a $10,000 buy-in No Limit holdem
event. In 2003 there were 839 registered players, in 2004
there were 2176 players, and in excess of 4000 are predicted
at the 2005 WSOP. This special event takes over a week
to complete.
